My Treasure

What do you value most? Everybody need to know their core values and what matters most. If you are going to realize the abundant life, you have to priortize your life. Somethings are vitally important and some things are not important at all. We need to engage in those things which are most important and let the others go. The Saturn V rocket, made right here in the Tennessee valley is five huge tubes of fuel that ignite and burn for two and one half minutes, lifting our space craft into the upper atmosphere. Once they burn out, the space craft no longer needs them and they are jettisons and fall back into the Atlantic. The second stage is five smaller rockets that burn for six minutes before falling back to earth. The third stage is a S-IVB rocket that carries the spacecraft into outer space and then it too is jettisons. Of course there is no gravity to pull it earthward but that is beside the point. The Apollo spacecraft could not have made it to the moon had not it separated itself from what it no longer needed. The key to success is learning when to let go and devoting your time to the essentials.

What is going to get us to heaven? Your 401-K, your stock portfolio, your person performance, or your church attendance will not get the job done. None of these things will give you the lift you need. There is only One Way to heaven and that is Jesus. There is only One person who can forgive your sins and make you right with the holy Father and that is Jesus. In light of this: what or who should be your greatest treasure? If Jesus is your treasure, why are you so concerned about the world taking your possessions? It is a good question, isn't it? Hebrews 12:1 comes to mind, Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. Do you think anxiety is a weight or a burden? Is it, or is it not a sin to worry constantly about what you are going to eat, wear and take shelter under? Our heavenly Father knows our needs. He provides for the birds and beast and He will provide for us. Don't take my word on it; take Jesus word:

"That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing. Look at the ravens. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds! {Luke 12:22-24, NLT}"

Jettison worry and anxiety. Let them go. Put your faith is Jesus and Jesus alone.

It is cooler this morning PTL. It was 67* at 4:00 am…Thank You Jesus! Don't forget to pray for someone other than yourself today.

GOD'S WORD FOR ALL PEOPLE this Sunday September 13th. I am challenging every member to give $35 to translate a scripture verse so that people who have never had a bible in there language will have one. Our goal is to do the book of JAMES, 108 verses.

Slidder and Hotdog supper Wednesday night September 16. We will cook on the South porch and eat in the fellowship hall. Too hot to use the pavilion. We will finish the book of James tonight LORD willing.

Monday October 26…we are hosting the MORGAN BAPTIST ANNUAL MEETING and feeding about 60 people, not including the 49ers. I am asking the 49er for help on preparing the meal. We will get the KFC, drinks and rolls but we need your help with the other things. Instead of having the 49er meal on Oct. 23, we are asking the 49ers to help us with the meal on Monday October 26. You do not have to attend the meeting just bring your food at lunch time and stay for lunch. It will work if we have a servant's heart!

October 28 is our Bill Smith Jambalaya Supper and our November Wednesday night meal falls on Veterans Day and we are having a stew and Joe is going to have us a video of our veterans at the round table. After the Stew in November, there will be no more Wednesday night suppers until Spring.
